Valley Children's Museum is supported by several committees of talented volunteers. We currently have openings on several committees and are recruiting individuals with proven experience and a strong commitment to making a difference in our community. Administrative support
Print and collate education materials and fundraising packets. Research contact information, community involvement and philanthropy for Development Committee. Assist with printing, stuffing, mailing projects.
Database management
Maintain master database list on excel format, updating with additions and revisions, based on the template currently being used, with added fields as needed for more efficient use.
Events
Before the event: Serve on the committee to create the event and make it happen. Sell tickets, distribute promotional information. Solicit auction donations, raffle items and/or sponsorships.
Day or evening of event: Assist with set-up, sell tickets, be greeter, assist with silent auction, raffle, other special activities.
Exhibits and Education Programs
Participate in the design and implementation of new and existing education programs. Communicate with schools and other program participants to schedule and evaluate programs. Transport exhibits and materials to program sites.
Fairs and Festivals
Staff a booth or exhibit at community events in parks, at schools, museums
and libraries.
Newsletter
Write newsletter articles and/or coordinate newsletter article list with person(s) responsible for writing the material. Using desktop software, lay out the articles, edit, use creativity to enhance the appearance. After final editing, implement printing, producing labels, and mailing using bulk mail permit.
Volunteer management
Maintain master list of volunteers, know who they are and what their interests are, be able to manipulate database effectively to recruit for appropriate projects, recruit and schedule volunteers for events, projects, and special needs. Be liaison to organizers of festivals & events.
