Board of Directors

The Valley Children’s Museum Board of Directors represents the core geographic area that our museum will serve. Additionally, these dedicated volunteers have valuable expertise in several areas critical to our success.

Rick Beaumont, President (Pleasanton)

Rick, a CFP, is Vice President of Wealth Management and a Financial Planning Specialist in Smith Barney's Walnut Creek office. He has over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry and is also part of the local management team. Rick is part of a team of wealth advisors that specialize in handling the complex financial issues for high net-worth clients. Rick is an active member of the community and Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, holding the position of Chairman of the Board in 2001 and serving on the board for five years. He also served as Vice President of Membership, Chair of the Ambassador group, and completed the Pleasanton Leadership Pleasanton program in 2000. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.

Pam Allio, Vice-President, Marketing (Danville)

Pam is managing principal of NetAptitude Consulting, a marketing strategy, planning and communications services organization. Prior to starting her consulting business, Pam co-founded StockPower Inc., where she served as VP of Marketing and Treasurer, led the company’s $6.5 million fundraising efforts, and played a key role in attracting top employees and advisors. Prior to StockPower, Pam worked at Autodesk, Inc., serving as AutoCAD Product Marketing Manager, leading one of the most successful product launches in Autodesk history. She received her MBA from University of California, Davis.

Ed Duarte, Vice-President, Operations (San Ramon)

Ed is president, founder, and owner of Aztec Consultants, a San Ramon-based professional construction management and general contracting company. Ed has served on many boards including, the YMCA and NorCal Financial Development Corporation. He is a member of the San Ramon Rotary Club, the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce, Alameda County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and San Ramon Economic Development Advisory Committee. Ed teaches at Cal State East Bay and is a graduate of Leadership San Ramon. He was named the San Ramon Citizen of the Year in 2000.

Stan Hitomi, Vice-President, Exhibit Strategy & Development (San Ramon)

Stan Hitomi is the Math and Science Coordinator for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD). Stan has been involved in education for 29 years, with 24 years as a classroom teacher. Stan served as the executive director of the Edward Teller Education Center, UC Davis / Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning (CFTL). In 1996, Stan was named Teacher of the Year by SRVUSD. Stan is a Carnegie Scholar, a TeachEach Awardee by the Schwab Foundation, and currently serves as chair of the California Teacher Advisory Council and co-chair of the Task Force on Teaching and California’s Future. Stan received his B.A. in Biology from UC Berkeley, and his M.A. in Administration from St. Mary’s College.

Bill Schaub, Vice-President, Development (Dublin)

Bill Schaub joins Valley Children’s Museum Board of Directors after thirty years in the high tech industry. Bill currently chairs the City of Dublin’s Planning Commission and consults with local companies. Bill was founding vice president of product and business development at Nielsen//NetRatings. He served as Gartner/Dataquest vice president managing computer products research following years with Compaq Computer and originally, Xerox Corporation in the office products heydays. Bill has an MBA from Saint Mary’s College, a bachelor’s degree in business and served as a US Naval Flight Officer.

Beth Ann Bentley, Secretary (Livermore)

Beth Ann Bentley is a management and marketing professional focusing on the food and beverage industry and website marketing. Her experience has concentrated in sports marketing and special events, public relations and field marketing. Beth Ann has managed, marketed and consulted with restaurants and companies in Manhattan and San Francisco, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as a “virtual” company. Beth Ann is a resident of Livermore, where she is raising her four children. Beth Ann and family are avid children museum goers and enthusiasts. She holds a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administrations from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Mike Byron, Treasurer (Dublin)

Mike is Corporate Controller for NVIDIA Corporation, where he manages a worldwide finance team for corporate accounting and finance functions. Mike serves as the primary contact for external auditors, manages the Sarbanes-Oxley 404 Compliance team, and serves as team leader for M&A transaction support in the financial area. Prior to NVIDIA, Mike held controller and other finance positions with several public and private companies, including Vicinity Corporation, Informix Software, and Deloitte & Touche. With over 19 years of accounting experience, Mike, a CPA and resident of Dublin, brings the necessary skills to serve as Treasurer during a high-growth period for the Museum. Mike received his B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Pat Costanzo, Jr. (Pleasanton)

Pat is Executive Vice President at Greenbriar Homes, overseeing the company operations including the Land Acquisition & Development Department, all Construction Operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and management of the design team for all projects. He has been active in Home Builders Association of Northern California for ten years, serving as Board Chairman in 2003. He remains active on the Executive Committee of HBANC’s Chairman’s Council, and serves on the Board of California Building Industry Association and as a Trustee for the California Building Industry Foundation. Pat received both his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.B.A. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.

David Messing, Site Committee Chair (San Ramon)

David is currently Senior Vice President/Western Regional Co-Manager for HSH Nordbank AG. Prior to this, he was the founding partner of Edgehill Capital, a real estate investment and consulting business. David has over 13 years of commercial real estate investment, development and finance experience, and has been directly responsible for over $1 billion of debt and equity. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Columbia University.

Wolfgang Stoeffl (Livermore)

Wolfgang is a physicist at Lawrence Livermore Lab. He grew up in Germany, got his physics PhD in Munich and came to US in 1980. His talents are in designing and building large physics experiments searching for elementary particles, astrophysics, antimatter beams and other fun things. As a resident of Livermore, he has organized fundraising events for the Livermore Valley Rotary Club for many years.
